  Milestones in ABPW History

At ten years, each ABPW member held an average of 2.5 board positions and 7 of the 21 members of the board of directors for the Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce were ABPW members.
At ten years, ABPW had established and funded scholarships at UHCL, had established a mentoring program for women at UHCL and had established an endowment to fund an annual lecture series at UHCL.
By the 20-year mark, ABPW had contributed $10,000 to the Greater Houston Women’s Fund for research on women and girls in the greater Houston area.
By the 20-year mark, ABPW had shifted its endowment and created a new one to provide more scholarships to meet the growing need for financial support for women attending UHCL.
In 2002, ABPW became an official community based partner organization with McWhirter Elementary School in Clear Creek ISD by creating a Parent Development Center and working with the student, parent and educational professional population to increase academic standards at the elementary level. This partnership continues to grow, evolve and thrive.
In 2003, ABPW was presented a Community Partnership Award from UHCL. This is awarded to organizations that have made key contributions to the university’s success.
In 2003, with a significant gift from Ben Mieszkuc and support from many ABPW members, a Chair in Women’s Studies was endowed at UHCL in honor of his wife, Marilyn Mieszkuc, who was a long-time member of ABPW.
In 2005 ABPW honored and provided scholarships for seven deserving women at UHCL.
In 2008, ABPW partnered with Communities in Schools and Clearview High School, creating the "Lunch with a Leader" Program. Members visit the school bimonthly throughout the school year. They provide lunch & mentor a select group of "at risk" girls providing encouragement and options for their future.
